Schitt's Creek - A sitcom with a deep precept

Schitt's Creek is a story of a formerly opulent family that is now broke. They move into a small town called Schitt's Creek, which they own. Basically, Johnny Rose bought this town as a gift for his son David on his birthday many years ago. Fortunately, the town ownership came in handy when needed.

Johnny Rose was the owner of a huge video rental chain. But after the business completely fell apart, the Rose family decided to move to the only asset they had left, the small town. Schitt's Creek was profoundly unorganized but filled with lovely people. The Roses settled in a motel, which was also messy. The story with the family moving into the town. Their original plan is to sell the town and start a new life with the deal they get. As time goes by, the Roses accept the fact that they are stuck in the town.

The Roses used to live in a huge villa and were very disconnected from each other's lives. The first challenge for them was to adjust the adjacency. Before moving to the town, Johnny and his wife, Moira, weren't well-informed about the lives of their children Alexis and David. With time, the Rose family got comfortable with each other and didn't keep any secrets.

Johnny Rose stood determined to revive his family from the ashes, while others cared about their uneasy state. The sitcom focuses on how the family overcomes their luxuries and explores an entirely different lifestyle. It shows how things aren't totally finished even when we are at our worst. Gradually, David, Alexis, Johnny, and Moira find their role in the new adaptation.

As Johnny decides to focus on the motel business, Moria, a former popular actress, steps foot in the entertainment industry once again. David's management skills helped him create his own business, which is also co-owned by his boyfriend, Patrick. Meanwhile, the aspirationless Alexis, who had no goals to work hard, became a consultant in public relations.

The sitcom also tells us that no matter how high you fly in the sky, it is important to keep your feet on the ground. As the series depicts, the Rose family turned their lives around in just a few years with each other's support. The drama is full of fun and light-hearted entertainment.

Why fans didn't like the ending of How I Met Your Mother ?

How I Met Your Mother has been one of the most talked-about sitcoms. It is known for great character development and innovative storytelling. It follows the story of Ted Mosby, an architect, who is finding his love. Along with him, four friends support him through thick and thin.

The sitcom started with a strong character introduction in the very beginning. Barney Stinson was very popular among the viewers from the very beginning. His explicit jokes were highlights of the show. Marshall and Lily's love always melted the hearts of the audience. Fans always craved for Ted and Robin to come together due to their impressive chemistry, but their polarizing goals kept them away from each other.

What went wrong?

The ironic part of the entire sitcom is that the mother, who is mentioned in the very title, isn't revealed until the very end. However, fans were patient for nine years and waited for the mystery to disclose itself. The running gags were also stars of the show. Many enjoyed the show until the sixth season. After that, things started falling apart. Apparently, it was easy for the writers to stretch every character's story for many years, but when the time came for them to give it a proper ending, they fumbled the ball.

The seventh and eighth seasons largely teased that the arrival of the mother is nearing. In the ninth season, Barney and Robin get married, after which Ted actually meets the mother of his children. However, not much of Tracy, the mother, is shown as she is brought in at the very last of the sitcom. The series is then fast-forwarded to how the years go by and how time affects their friends.

During the sped-up version of the story, they even showed Barney and Robin's divorce. A crucial moment in the series, but it was given away hastily. Tracy's death was also depicted in the same manner. All these things happened in the last couple of episodes. In the end, his kids help Ted get back with Robin.

Important twists like this should have been given more time. One of the most illogical turns in the sitcom was Tracy's death. Fans waited so long to see the character, which didn't debut until the very climax, and they wrote her off after a few crucial yet hasty writings. Overall, the sitcom should have taken more time in introducing Tracy, which would have made more sense as viewers waited for almost a decade to meet the character.

Breaking Bad and its brilliant whirlpool

Breaking Bad has one of the most beloved series in the history of television. It has been in the conversations of one of the best series. The series currently streams on Netflix. It was created by Vince Gilligan, a famous screenwriter who has multiple popular projects. However, Breaking Bad and its subsequent work will forever remain immortal among the fans.

Walter White and Jesse Pinkman's thrilling lives were enjoyed by fans. The story of how a chemistry teacher turned into Heisenberg and how Heisenberg turned chemicals into a meth empire. While the two have done a fabulous job, the side characters have been the cherry on the cake. Mike Ehrmantraut, Skyler White, Gustavo Fring, and many others stole the show, too.

One more character who stood out from the entire cast was Saul Goodman. He was a lawyer who knew a guy who knew another guy. Basically, he did all the dirty work for Walter and laundered his money, and protected him from any legal threats. Fans were so impressed by his character, Vince Gilligan decided to explore who Saul Good was before he became Saul Goodman. Therefore, after the massive success of Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul was brought in play.

The story sheds light on how Jimmy McGill became a lawyer and what forced him to become a criminal lawyer. It shows why he had to sacrifice his ethics. In the series, we get to know that Jimmy McGill, also known as Goodman, intentionally chose to go the wrong path. The slow-burn storytelling, the music, and character work truly make it another masterpiece of Vince Gilligan. This is too available on the Netflix platform.

While Better Call Sal continued, in 2019, Vince decided to conclude another chapter from Breaking Bad. During the climax of the latter series, Jesse Pinkman escapes his caged life. However, fans never got the closure on what happened next. El Camino is a movie solely based on Jesse Pinkman's struggle and what he had to do now that he was exposed as a criminal to the outside world. The story of the movie is plain and simple. In the end, Jesse starts his new life with a new identity.

Vince Gilligan created one of the best modern-day triologies. His screenwriting includes slow-burn stories, twists, and plenty of logic, and therefore, fans will always remember him. Viewers would never regret investing time in this vortex.

How I Met Your Mother - A closer look at the characters

How I Met Your Mother has been a well-known sitcom and is often brought up in conversations. The story revolves around the lead character, Ted Mosby, telling his kids how he met his mother. While this is the primary plot of the series, the sitcom also tells how five individuals enjoy their lives. All these characters are around the age of 30 years old and like everyone, worry about their career and future family. However, this concern doesn't stop them from making memories that will last forever. And as the audience, these stories are etched in our hearts, too.

The most important part of all, all the main characters carry a certain personality, and throughout the years, we see them change and grow. The series is filled with feel-good, emotional, heart-breaking moments, but the most crucial quality of the sitcom, it gives a harsh reality check of what an adult has to face in the real world. And it also teaches that time and friends help heal every wound.

One of the most interesting parts of the sitcom is its constructive writing. Other series like The Office focused on how to make the story more real, while How I Met Your Mother tried their best to become innovative. Overexaggerating things, multiple running gags, and providing creative flashbacks always gave the viewers a laugh. Also, the storytelling glued the audience to their seats as every episode started with a massive and literal cliffhanger. They often gave the episode's climax at the very start to make the viewers curious.

And one of the most integral things, they didn't reveal Ted's wife till the last few episodes of the sitcom. It was the biggest suspense in the history of entertainment at that time. The series lasted nine years, and they refused to give up the surprise. The series survived nine years by teasing who the mother is. However, the journey to reach their destination doesn't feel long with the help of the five people and how their lives affected each other. Let's take a look at detailed look at the five crucial characters of the sitcom.

  • Ted Mosby
Ted Mosby, an architect, is a hopeless romantic who is determined to find the love of his life. However, it takes a long time to find Ted his 'the one'. The sitcom starts with him narrating to his kids how he met their mother. During the show, he dated multiple women, but things didn't go forward from there. He was not afraid to commit to and start a family. Despite all the failures, he continued to accept rejection and move on to his quest.

While women broke his heart, his friends would put it back together right back but not before mocking him for his stupidity. His friends always had his back through rough times. The desperate lover and optimistic architect didn't stop until he found 'the one,' and the sitcom is all about his search.

  • Robin Scherbatsky
Robin, a news reporter who dreamed of hosting a major network channel, made her way into Ted's group. Robin and Ted fell for each other in their very first meeting. And Mosby went on to propose to her on the very first night they met, which ended things immediately between them, for the time being. However, Robin stuck with the group.

She portrayed herself as a tough Canadian girl who had clear goals. While she and Ted were a great couple, things didn't move forward with them because the news reporter never wanted to get married and refused to have kids. Meanwhile, the Architect wanted to build a future where his family could live together. Her father raised her as a son, because he wanted one, and therefore, many times she had different opinions from other women. While she didn't let her guard down for anyone, Robin didn't shy away from sharing her insecurities with her friends.

  • Barney Stinson

There will not be another shameless character in the history of television. Barney Stinson is depicted as the epitome of a playboy. He had mastered the one-night stands with women. He would pick up girls from the bar that these five would hang out at. However, there was another side to the coin. Stinson didn't have a father, and he was often vulnerable when that subject was brought up. He had immense love for his suits, and he wouldn't trade them for a thing.

Barney was rich, lived a luxurious life, but nobody knew what he did for a living. He was the rebel in the group who never participated in any emotional chats, would occasionally zone out, and use words like awesome and legendary to describe himself.

  • Marshall and Lily
The only couple in the group who had been together since their college days. These two were an inseparable couple. They even shared the same toothbrush. Marshall was a lawyer while Lily was a kindergarten teacher. This was the couple Robin, Ted, and Barney used to go to when they had a dilemma. While these two loved each other to the death, they had different points of view.

Marshall was a soft, kind-hearted man who had built his lifestyle around certain ethics. He was very close to his family and stood out for his friends wherever needed. Meanwhile, Lily was a bit harsh on her close friends. She would never tolerate if someone in the group is doing wrong and uses tactics to teach a lesson to that individual.

The story of these guys has been exciting, unpredictable, and emotional. They all have different goals, but their lives are intertwined with each other.

American Beauty - A movie more eerie than American Psycho

American Psycho has been rejuvenated in recent years as the youngsters on social media have found the movie captivating and deemed Christian Bale's character 'sigma'. However, the movie represents the thoughts of a mentally diseased man. While the movie shall be considered as terrorizing, Gen Z idolizes the film. The ironic part is, most of the sigma enthusiasts probably haven't even seen the cinema. While the movie itself is a masterpiece, teenagers forget what the movie represents. And this is all you need to know about this generation's intellect.

American Psycho is actually a critically acclaimed film, where Christian Bale has delivered a top-notch performance. The chaotic film is extremely gory and violent. The film is too graphic, which is what makes it terrifying. However, there's another film out there that today's audience might not be aware of, American Beauty. A 1999 film that might blow your mind, starring Kevin Spacey.

While American Psycho didn't adhere to reality, American Beauty does. This is probably what makes it more eerie. One might completely relate to the film's premise, while the other might worry about their future. The story starts with Kevin Spacey narrating as his character, Lester. It shows him and his wife going through a mid-life crisis. Both of them outgrew each other and share no desire to be together. Their daughter, Jane, too, isn't a normal teenager.

The couple has been tired of their jobs too. Mentally frustrated and sexually inactive, Lester and his wife, Carolyn, would have divorced each other a long time ago if they didn't care about society and Jane. While Lester dragged his life somehow, things got interesting for him when he decided to attend an event at his daughter's school. During the show, he laid his eyes on Angela, Jane's friend. Immediately attracted to her, he found passion in things again. He started working out solely to impress her. Jane, too, started to date a neighbourhood boy. Meanwhile, Carolyn started an affair with her work-related friend, which Lester didn't care about. He had taken a different approach to life.

Quit his job and started as a drive-thru chef, which he didn't regret. He even started to forget why he started to work out, to seduce Angela. While everyone's life seems happy for now, things take a dark turn in the end. Some things haven't been mentioned in the film, so you can still enjoy the movie.

American Beauty perfectly portrayed how American marriages work now. While having a 'mid-life crisis' was rare in 1999, the phenomenon has spread worldwide over time, with couples divorcing like changing lightbulbs. This movie could be considered more eerie than American Psycho or any other horror film.
