Squid Game came on Netflix in 2021, and fans lost their minds. A never-before-seen concept took over the streaming platform. The Korean drama stayed in Netflix's Top 10 for almost 30 weeks. The series contains mindboggling twists and turns. It lasted over three seasons and never failed to create buzz on social media.
People actually felt related when the series was first introduced. Innocent people, having different issues, of which money was the root cause. A secret organization finds 456 people who are in desperate need of money and throws them together in a brutal competition. The game is organized by a bunch of businessmen who have all the money in the world. The sole survivor gets 45.6 billion. What's more interesting is that every player knows that their life is in danger. And are even allowed to leave the mid-game after collective voting.
However, money makes people blind, and many choose green fortune over life. The changing dynamics among groups, heartbreaks, and betrayals kept fans on the edge of their seats for the entire time. After many violent games and killings, player no. 456, Seong Gi-hun survives and wins 45.6 billion. But the game had totally changed him as he got to know how these evil billionaires used 456 players like pawns for their entertainment.
Therefore, he decides to enter the game again and save the lives of other players. Despite his advice, everyone decided to play the game for the lure of money. The major in the second season was that the Front Man, who arranges the ruthless games, also participated in them and supervised the action of Seong Gi-hun. While many of the players wanted to continue the game, several wanted to leave it. So Seong Gi-hun made a team and decided to attack the guards of the game. However, their plan backfired badly, and Player No. 456 and others were forced to return to the competition. The third season was brutal to watch as the merciless billionaires even added a newborn baby in the game.
The Ending
As we reach the climax, we get to know that the Front Man was the winner of the previous Squid Game. Contrary to Seong, he didn't think before winning the game unethically. The Front Man had this weight on his shoulders for many years, and he advised Player No. 465 to do the same. However, the latter chose the right path.
In the climax, a few days old baby and Player No. 465 were left, and he had to choose who would be between himself and the baby. The nail-biting climax saw Seong sacrifice his life. Later, the Front Man demanded to blow up the entire island. No traces left.
There should have been more depth and action in the end. Many stories were left untold in the final of the series, which upset the majority of the audience. Instead, they teased American Squid Game in the post-credit scene, which enraged many more people.
