Friends is probably one of the most popular sitcoms in today's world. Famous characters, catchy dialogues, and funny gags spread out throughout the series, and almost every component is perfectly balanced in the sitcom. While the series is held close to heart by the majority of the fans, many of the audience, who are actually sitcom fans, seem to hate the popular series.
The American TV series is based around Chandler Bing, Joey Tribbiani, Rachel Green, Monica Geller, Phoebe Buffay, and Ross Geller. The six people live in two apartments across each other's halls. They help each other through tough times, but not before having a big laugh. The entire series portrays what a group of friends looks like.
However, there are certain things that some may consider over the line. First of all, a good bunch of people are the laughing track that plays throughout the episodes. 'We get it was a joke, let us do the laughing,' many viewers said out of exasperation. While this may not seem a major issue, many are actually irritated by the constant tracking and have stopped watching the show midway.
Second, the show is full of overreactions. It seemed special at first, fans got a good laugh, but it became pestered as more and more episodes went by. And the overreactions only got bigger and bigger with time. But this doesn't take anything away from the brilliant writing and storytelling, and the characters are too relatable to hate.
Chandler, one of the most lovable characters you could find, but also awkward in completely ordinary situations. Then comes Monica, a very organized person, and also very dominant when things don't go her way. Rachel, a beautiful woman, who played with boys' hearts all her life, but grew up as responsibilities stood tall in front of her. Then comes Joey, who was fond of women, and didn't change himself when the situation begged him to. Phoebe Buffay is a character everybody can relate to. She acts the same way one would react when an individual is around their comfort people.
A series with strong character work, tangled love stories, and heart-wrenching and emotionally wrecking stories keeps you glued. One thing that remains constant is comedy. You may despise it, but you will never not laugh at the jokes. This lovely and lively sitcom will always stay in your head till you die.
